CAMPERS HELPING KIDS - Frogbridge In The Community
We
have been truly blessed to be able to share our summers with our
campers and their families year after year. The fun, the friendships,
and the smiles on the faces of our campers and team members make all we
do all year worthwhile. Our dream really has come true!
There are, however, many children and families that are not able to
share in the fun at Frogbridge, or any camp for that matter. Many
children, right here in our own communities are suffering from various
illnesses, while others are poor and/or homeless, certainly not able to
experience all that our campers do here at camp.
At Frogbridge, we believe in making a difference in the lives of
children. So much so that it's actually our mission statement! That is
why we work so hard throughout the year on helping those in need in our
local communities. We call it "Campers Helping Kids", and thanks in
large part to you, our campers and families, we have greatly impacted
the lives of many of these ill or needy children and their families.
Here are some of the ways Frogbridge has lended a Helping Hand to those in need:
Pediatric Cancer Foundation
- Frogbridge has worked with the PCF from 2003-2009, raising well over
$40,000.00 for children stricken with cancer. Funds collected have gone
on to purchase exploratory equipment, among other things, which has
aided in the treatment and recovery of childhood cancer patients. As
their mission statement reads, we are proud to "hold the hand of a
child with cancer"!
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
- With several of our own campers recently dignosed with Juvenile
Diabetes, and others long time sufferers, we decided to dedicate the
summer of 2010 to helping the cause. In one summer alone, Frogbridge
and it's families raised over $13,000.00 for children with diabetes!
Annual Halloween Toy Drive
- Every year in the fall, Frogbridge hosts an annual Halloween event
called the Frog-toberfest for it's campers, their families and friends.
The day features haunted hayrides, a haunted house, pumpkin picking and
decorating, magic shows and food for evrybody served at Windows on the
Water, our lakeside catering hall! Beginning in 2008, we began to
charge a fee for attending the day's events - one new, unwrapped toy
for each family attending. The toys collected would then be distributed
to groups in local communities dedicated to helping children and their
families in need throughout the holiday season. In the four years we
have collected toys for children in need, Frogbridge has collected and
distributed over 1750 toys!
We are proud to have helped the following towns and groups by donating toys collected from our Frogtoberfest toy drives:
Ronald McDonald House of Long Branch
Asbury Park Police Department Annual Toy Drive
Manalapan Samaritan Center
Park Avenue Elementary School Holiday Toy Drive, Freehold NJ
Mercer County Board of Special Services via the Princeton Airport's Annual Santa FlyIn, Mercer County NJ
Children's Specialized Hospital of Toms River
If you know of another group or organization in Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex or Ocean counties that is in need of assistance this holiday season, please let us know right away. We would be happy to help in any way we can.
As you can see, we are very much dedicated to helping those in need in our local communties. If you know of a worthy group or organization that can use our assistance please call or email our camp office today.
